The aim of this web-based guide is to help development professionals understand how engagement with international human rights machinery, namely UN Treaty Bodies and UN Special Procedures, can further development work. It provides background information on the legal framework of each entity and practical guidance on how and why it is beneficial for development professionals to understand and invoke these legal mechanisms. The guide is based on the views and experience of development practitioners and includes several case studies from around the world.
