Toby Mendel: Founder and Executive Director of the Centre for Law and Democracy, an international human rights NGO that provides legal and capacity building expertise regarding foundational rights for democracy, including the right to information, freedom of expression, the right to participate and the rights to assembly and association. He also worked for ARTICLE 19, an international human rights NGO as a senior director for Law. Toby has collaborated with the UN, UNESCO, the World Bank, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe as well as numerous NGOs and governments all over the world.
Fatou Jagne: Regional Director at ARTICLE 19 West Africa, with 20 years’ experience working with advocates in Africa on human rights and freedom of expression. Fatou established ARTICLE 19 West Africa in Senegal and has represented the organisation in various initiatives including the IFEX lead advocacy. She worked to support the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights (ACHPR) for the adoption of the Declaration on Freedom of Expression and the mechanism of the Special Rapporteur on FoE in Africa.
