This resource enables teachers to explore the human rights of sexual and gender minority groups with young people. Every person has the same human rights, but LGBTQI+ people still suffer discrimination and abuse, and their rights are violated simply because of who they are. This happens around the world and in the UK. Amnesty International has designed this resource to support primary and secondary school teachers to tackle this issue with their students. We include a suggested age-range for each activity. The resources are designed to enable young people to use language positively, and to celebrate diversity and tolerance. They include exploring diverse families, the impact of hate crime and how to ensure LGBTQI+ rights are enjoyed in schools making them equal and safe for everyone to learn and thrive.
