This handbook on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Special Court for Sierra Leone aims to assist people who may not be specialists in politics, law, or human rights, but who want to understand these accountability institutions. This audience includes teachers, religious leaders, traditional chiefs, community activists, NGO workers, and others. The handbook covers the mandate, origins, purposes, and operating methods of the TRC and Special Court, and differences and similarities between them, in clear, non-technical language.
