Our primary interest in this research is to determine why many countries are not teaching a genocide/mass atrocity curriculum, whether it be from a lack of materials, understanding, or acknowledgement of genocidal acts historically. This study will evaluate where genocide education is being offered and examples that showcase how the education can vary based upon the textbooks that are used. This analysis will provide a framework for a recommended genocide education curriculum with the goal that it be instituted globally as an integral and foundational role to the establishment of an early warning prevention system for mass atrocity and genocide.
