The purpose of this chapter is to provide updated revisions to Tibbitts’ three original HRE models: Values Awareness, Accountability, and Transformation based on new learning and scholarship that has emerged in the field in the last decade or so. Tibbitts begins by presenting the goals of HRE in terms of the prevention of human rights abuses, considering theories of change, and identifying additional elements of her original HRE models. She goes on to critically apply the newly identified elements to the three original models and argue that while the three models should be revisited and revised, they are still valuable tools.
