This intercultural education pack was prepared for the Human Rights Education Initiative of the Council of Europe. Its aim is to help young people understand the causes of racism and intolerance, and encourage them to value differences between people and cultures. It provides practical and theoretical materials that can be used by educators, teachers, trainers, and youth workers in informal education settings. Those who are just starting to work with young people will find the pack particularly useful. Part A gives a general introduction to European societies and the basis of intercultural education. Part B provides a toolbox of methods and activities to use with young people, including activities based on group work and participation that encourage young people to take action.
