Dance unit (Universal human rights, Alvin Ailey, and the Body/what: Actions, parts and shapes)

In this Dance unit, students discuss a biography of Alvin Ailey focusing on evidence of discrimination and prejudice, social action and change. Students analyze Ailey’s choreography, using the Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) poster—Body/What: Actions, Parts, and Shapes. Students create a dance task using elements of Ailey’s choreography from I Been ‘Buked.
