The International Labour Organization (ILO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, has developed international agreements and mechanisms designed to protect the rights of indigenous peoples. This guide provides guidance on how to file a complaint with the ILO’s Governing Body. Illustrations are given of relevant cases and decisions, and concrete examples of how a case can be moved through the system. There is also a summarised review of the specific rights protected under the two ILO Conventions most relevant to indigenous peoples: ILO Conventions Nr. 107 and Nr. 169.
