Today HREA welcomes Jasmin Blessing as a Human Rights Education Fellow. Jasmin Blessing will be HREA’s Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Fellow from February-July 2014. During this period she will be supporting HREA’s Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Program and (co-)instructing several gender-related courses and workshops in Portuguese.
Prior to joining HREA as a Fellow, Jasmin Blessing worked specifically on LGBT and gender-related human rights issues at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in New York and in the Gender, Peace and Security Program of UN-INSTRAW in the Dominican Republic. She also worked as a Junior Campaigner at Allout.org, an online campaigning organization in New York undertaking research on campaigns to end violence against LGBT people. Prior to her work at AllOut, Jasmin coordinated the International Resource Network (IRN) an international gender and sexuality project based at the City University of New York for many years. Jasmin Blessing hold a BA (Hons) in Latin American Studies and a Master’s degree in Human Rights from the National University in Ireland, and is currently based in New York.
Fellows will have the opportunity to further develop research, teaching, and facilitation skills and will be based for three months at HREA’s office in Cambridge, Massachusetts (USA).
