HREA partners with the Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World

HREA has partnered with the Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW) at the Lebanese American University (LAU) to offer a certificate program in Gender in Development and Humanitarian Assistance.

Due to the increase in suffering, violence, and deprivation of human rights in times of conflict, where victims lose their basic and natural rights, the addition of a Gender in Development and Humanitarian Assistance program would meet an identified need by national, regional, and international agencies for capacity in addressing gender issues in the Arab world and beyond.

The program will serve the needs of the international development and humanitarian assistance sectors by providing sector professionals with the theoretical understanding and practical skills required to fill a crucial demand in the field. Participants will not only graduate with the essential knowledge they need to make a real change in society but also with the skills needed to implement the knowledge they acquire.

The certificate program in Gender in Development and Humanitarian Assistance is intended for researchers, volunteers, mid-career professionals already working in the humanitarian field, and university students. The program is combined with LAU’s Master in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies.

The courses will be delivered at the LAU Beirut and Byblos campuses, at LAU’s New York Academic Center and online.
