The International Conference on Freedom of Expression in Cyberspace is being organised by UNESCOs Sector of Communication and Information. It will take place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, from 3 to 4 February 2005. This meeting is organized within the framework of UNESCO's current participation in the activities related to the process of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and seeks to provide a forum for debate, reflection and analysis of the different issues concerning the application of universal freedom of expression principles to cyberspace and new information and communication technologies (ICTs). The meeting will gather prominent figures from the international sphere, civil society groups, scholars in the field, journalists and other media professionals, as well as representatives from authorities dealing with these issues, representing all regions of the world. All panels will follow a keynote speech and interventions from panellists that shall then be followed by a general debate open to participants.
